Ruthin Castle Hotel And Spa

4-star castle hotel with royal heritage and a spa set in a medieval moat

Spa & Wellness

Ruthin Castle Hotel And Spa offers the BAZAAR Spa, housed in the former moat and surrounded by rustic woodland grounds. The spa features a thermal suite with a sauna and steam room, plus outdoor hot tubs set among the trees. Guests can book treatments such as back massage, body wraps, and facials, and use the relaxation area after their session.

Dining

The castle's main restaurant, Bertie's, serves fine dining using local and seasonal produce, while the Tafarn y Ddraig pub offers a more casual menu with Welsh dishes. A cooked Welsh breakfast is available each morning as part of the stay, and afternoon tea in the historic surroundings is a popular option. Special diet menus and kids' meals are provided upon request.

Rooms & Grounds

Rooms at Ruthin Castle Hotel are individually styled with contemporary decor and include en suite bathrooms with either a standalone bath or walk-in shower. Some rooms feature a four-poster bed and a large standalone bath, and every room has at least one flat-screen TV. The grounds include acres of parkland with original medieval ruins, roaming peacocks, and a picnic area.

Location & Activities

The hotel sits next to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is less than a 40-minute drive from Chester. Snowdonia National Park is 32 km south, and Gwydyr Forest Park offers additional walking and cycling routes 32 km west. The historic town of Ruthin, with its shops, prison museum, and Nantclwyd y Dre, is a 5-minute walk from the castle.

Pet-Friendly & Family

Designated pet-friendly rooms allow dogs to stay, with direct access to the parkland for walks (dogs must be kept on leads due to the resident peacocks). Family rooms are available, and the hotel offers kids' meals and spacious accommodations for groups. The property also has facilities for disabled guests, including a wheelchair-accessible entrance and toilet grab rails.
